Balmoral offshore Engineering, the Aberdeen based provider of deepwater buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products, awarded Simmers Contracts the steelwork, metalwork and cladding elements in the construction of their new manufacturing facility, research and development laboratories and hydrostatic test centre at its group HQ in Aberdeen. The building covers the area of more than six tennis courts and rises to an impressive 18m in height. (285 tonnes & 5318 Sq/m)
Balmoral Tanks purchased the 12 acre Hickleton Colliery site to develop a new epoxy coating line, in-line shot blasting unit and the latest laser cutting technology and fabrication facilities. Simmers Contracts Ltd were awarded the steelwork package for this project. (420 tonnes)
The new two storey office block at Loiriston Park was built using a portal frame design with a composite first floor. The exterior was finished with an insulated cladding system with integrated glazing. The building has one internal feature staircase and two external spiral staircases.
Simmers Contracts Ltd carried out an extensive external renovation of their existing office and fabrication workshop. Rather than strip and re-clad the building, we concluded that the best option to minimise disturbance was to retain the existing cladding and fit a facade of new cladding on top.
